« Candy Girls »

As a kid, I would imagine having your birthday slap bang in the middle of the summer holidays isn't so much fun. Especially when you're eight. You're friends at school aren't aware of it, and organising a party is almost impossible when you can't hand out invitations. This is why my little sister's Dad thought it a good idea to book a party for her the first week back to school at Candy Girls.

It's a great little bungalow decked out in pink, where the girls - and the lone boy, Noah - can have their hair and nails done, can wear some face paints and glitter tattoos and play some riotous party games. I went with my big sister and my Mum to play chaperone (and ended up joining in a bit too), taking some snaps along the way!

From a grown up perspective, it's a genius idea. Entirely innovative and clever. And as for the girls - and the boy - they had a whale of a time!
