When arranging our trip to the Harry Potter tour, I knew that navigating the gift shop was going to be difficult without financially crippling myself. As preparation, I hunted about for a list of what was stocked, so that I could make a list of things that I really wanted and things that I might snatch on an excited impulse. A 'hunt' and 'avoid' list, if you will.
One of those things was a wand, obviously, another was a box of Bertie Botts Every Flavour beans and the third was a Time Turner necklace as seen in The Prisoner of Azkaban. The latter really is a beautiful object to have. It contains a real sand timer, the gold is engraved and it spins like something you'd expect from anything astrological.
It comes housed in it's own little wooden cabinet, backed with a mirror that reflects all the many angles of the necklace. It has taken pride of place on my dresser, and all Potter obsession apart, it's probably one of the most stunning pieces of jewellery I own. And it's magical ... sort of ... in my head.
