Squirrel Cardigan - Cath Kidston
Dress - Cath Kidston
Tights - New Look
Boots - Hobbs
I have been watching a lot of films lately; the warped reality of television proving a little too grating for now. Aside from Bake Off, obviously. Bake Off is always allowed.
One of my latest forays into the world of cinema was The Book Thief, a truly beautiful story of friendship through unimaginable circumstances. Not only did it make me sob like a small child, but - along with my beloved Cath Kidston pieces - secured my style inspiration for the coming Autumn / Winter.
Now maybe it's wrong to take such guidance from a twelve-year-old war time German girl, maybe it's not. But the peter-pan collars, palleted knits and enviable array of boots had me sold.
"I'd wear that."
"I'd wear that, too."
"I really like her dress."
It had me reaching for my tea dresses and big knits and investing in a pair of good quality chelsea boots for the winter. I've since been wearing them with everything - along with my Squirrel Cardigan, whose slightly cropped length sits perfectly over dresses for that cosy effortlessness and touch of 'I-didn't-even-try'.
It's so darn warm that it's acting as a jacket-replacement until the time comes where I'm forced to reach for the 'big coat' - which I hope won't be for a little while yet. I'm having too much fun with the fledgling Autumn.
